Place Description:
This is the upper of 2 lookout areas overlooking the falls.
Like most waterfalls, I don't think these photos do justice to the view. The water falls a long way from top to bottom, and surrounding you is a lush, dense forest that's really quite pretty. Everything is mossy!
Individual View Descriptions:falls_upper_lookout, facing North:
- [zoom left] just a close look at the thick and mossy tree bark.
- [zoom right] this is the path down to the lower lookout.
falls_upper_lookout, facing SE:
- [zoom top] look at the fallen tree that's hanging out over the edge of the falls!
- [zoom 2nd from top] look at the neat bands of different levels of moss surrounding the falls. There are interesting creatures and plants living, feeding and growing in there!
- [zooms 3 & 4] just closer looks at the lower part of the falls.
falls_upper_lookout, facing West:
- Fortunately, there's a nice bench here to rest your legs after the steep ascent. There's also another one down below at the lower lookout.
falls_upper_lookout, facing NW:
- Some other travelers. Because the falls are fairly easy to access, it can get a bit crowded on sunny summer weekends.
